Around Trento

Local tips for your stay

Trento is a compact mountain city with an easy-to-explore historic centre and nearby walking routes.

Drinking fountains

Public drinking fountains, known locally as fontanelle, are found throughout the city. View the fountain map. A large fountain near the “Povo Piazza Manci” stop is convenient for refilling a water bottle on the way to campus.

Historic centre

Start at Piazza Duomo and explore the surrounding pedestrian streets. Trento’s Roman name, Tridentum, is traditionally associated with the three small hills on which the city was built.

Doss Trento

Open 07:30–19:30. Enjoy city views, the Cesare Battisti Mausoleum, and the remains of an early church. Open map.

Dosso Sant’Agata

Always open, with a small abandoned church at the top. It rises just above the Povo campus. Open map.

Dosso San Rocco

Always open and a little farther from the centre; its wooded landscape is the main attraction. Open map.
